MISSION: CARINAM’s mission is to protect and conserve biodiversity and other resources in their natural habitats.
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives on which CARINAM was established include:
- To conduct research and work for the conservation and protection of biodiversity in their natural habitat/state;
- To assist the government with policies and advocacy for the conservation of nature, natural resources and environment;
- To form alliances with organizations/institutions working in similar field to build capacity, skills and strengthen human resources/organizations in this particular field;
- To make the general masses and policy-makers aware of the biodiversity conservation values and benefits; and
- To disseminate information for biodiversity conservation.
WORKING AREA:
CARINAM's working area is at present restricted within Bangladesh. However partnerships with international and regional organizations it plans to extend areas.
AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION:
CARINAM is presently focusing its activities on the protection and conservation habitats & ecosystems like tropical forests, freshwater and coastal wetlands; conservation like taxonomic groups related to amphibians and reptilescrocodilians, marine turtles, freshwater turtles and tropical forest herptiles; change. It also assists the government and related agencies on conservation policy and advocacy issues. Members of CARINAM are associated
various international conservation organizations like IUCN, CITES, etc.
