Sutton Fen is the RSPB's 200th reserve and widely considered to be one of our key nature reserves due to its remarkable biodiversity. The RSPB has owned the site for five years and has gone from strength to strength delivering 4 landfill funded projects, a successful application to Higher Level Stewardship and building relationships with neighbouring landowners and organisations. RSPB are looking for someone with the drive and enthusiasm to make the most of working on one of the UK's finest nature reserves, someone who is willing to work early mornings and weekends when necessary to keep on top of the many demands of a complex nature reserve.
The post-holder will be capable of forward thinking, and with the warden, planning a work programme of habitat and estate management, survey, monitoring and volunteer management. They will have the initiative and independence to work efficiently on their own to check water levels, the herd of highland cattle and maintain the reserve equipment and machinery as well as pushing forward the team working ethos within the Broads Area Team.
