Two tonnes of wild animals siezed from smugglers in Vietnam31/07/2008 10:25:49July 2008. Vietnamese police have seized more than two tonnes of live snakes and 770 kg of tortoises that were about to be smuggled into China. Police halted a truck 160 kilometres east of Hanoi and discovered the animals inside, it is thought that the animals had all been caught in Laos and were on the way to restaurants in China. Almost all the animals are classified as rare by CITES.
