British Wildlife Photography Awards - New categories

The BWPA are open again for business - Grey Seal by Alex Tattersall

New categories - Documentary series, Living landscape, Wildlife on video.

Now in its third year these awards recognise the talents of photographers of all nationalities practicing in the UK, while at the same time highlight the great wealth and diversity of British natural history.

BWPA also aims to encourage discovery, exploration, conservation and enjoyment of our natural heritage as well as raising awareness about British species and habitats.

There are 11 main categories to excite the imagination, as well as three special awards to encourage young people and school children to connect with nature. Unlike other wildlife competitions the Awards are uniquely British.

With a prize fund of up to £20,000 and the overall winner receiving a cash prize of £5,000, the images receiving judges' commendations will form part of a series of nationwide exhibitions. The British Wildlife Photography Awards aim to set the standard for wildlife photography in the UK for many years to come.

BWPA are delighted include 3 new categories including ‘Wildlife on Video'.

  • Trelissick, Cornwall. The National Trust - August 2011 (dates TBC)
  • Scottish Natural Heritage. Battleby Conference Centre, Battleby Redgorton. Dates TBC
  • WildlifeXpo, London. 14th & 15th Ooctober.

 

 

 Along with the following prizes winners and commended entrants will also have their work showcased in a national touring exhibition and stunning coffee table book, published by AA publishing: British Wildlife Photography Awards: Collection 2.

Dates: The competition will be open for entries on 1st February 2011. The closing date is Thursday 2rd of June 2011. Entrants will be able to submit entries on-line or via post.
