DEFRA gives eagles and ospreys extra protection.28/09/2006 00:00:00 The new act makes it an offence, at any time of the year, to take, damage or destroy the nest of the Golden eagle, the White-tailed eagle and the osprey.The act also extends protection afforded to wild birds to birds that have been bred in captivity and lawfully released into the wild as part of a re-population or reintroduction programme, such as the Great bustards on Salisbury Plain.
