This mallard chose to nest in the flower pot at the caravan site

June 2011. A mother duck has chosen the most unlikely of places for a nest to lay her eggs - a flowerpot in a busy caravan display area!

Having laid up to eight eggs in the floral display, the wild Mallard has now taken up residence on the nest, partially camouflaged by the flowers.

To prevent her being disturbed by customers, Shrewsbury-based caravan and motorhome dealership Salop Leisure has cordoned off the area to provide some privacy.

"We could see flowers on the floor all around one of the pots and on closer examination noticed that a duck had dug out a nest and had initially laid four eggs, which later became seven or eight," said Salop Leisure's Scott Higgins.

"It's brilliant that the mother duck has now returned to the nest and we look forward to seeing her brood of ducklings in due course. She's created a real talking point among customers."
