Unusual sighting of a Hog badger in India29/04/2011 15:25:10April 2011. This photo was sent to us by Bret Charman, who saw this very unusual animal in the forests of Kaziranga National Park in north-east India. Bret says that "The image was rushed and the lighting in the forests of Kaziranga is not ideal for photography." The hog badger, although not especially rare, is thought to be declining across its range and is very rarely seen, especially during daytime. The Hog Badger is a terrestrial mammal that can grow up to 2 feet long, or more. They have medium-length brown hair, a stocky body, a pink pig-like snout. Generally found in the forests of South and East Asia, Hog badgers are omnivorous and they eat fruits, roots and small animals.
