A Leucistic Canada goose, photographed by Quentin Furrow.

These images of an apparently leucistic Canada goose were taken in Eugene, Oregon, by Quentin Furrow. We have had a couple of emails suggesting that this goose might be hybrid rather than leucistic, let us know if youcan tell us more.

Leucism (or Leukism)

Leucism is a very unusual condition whereby the pigmentation cells in an animal or bird fail to develop properly. This can result in unusual white patches appearing on the animal, or, more rarely, completely white creatures.
