Reader Anna Reid sent us this picture of a leucistic sparrow that she spotted on Lindisfarne.

Leucism (or Leukism)
Leucism is a very unusual condition whereby the pigmentation cells in an animal or bird fail to develop properly. This can result in unusual white patches appearing on the animal, or, more rarely, completely white creatures.

Amazing connections....

I have to report how a little bird can connect people. Wildlife's magical like that, isn't it?
Another lady also saw this sparrow on Lindisfarne and decided to "Google" it and found this photograph....identification confirmed she then found me (Anna Reid) and my 'bird blog' on my works' gardening website www.arnosgrownpicc.com/index.php?p=1_80_Annas-bird-blog-10-Sparrows-and-Puffins (that's the blog that referred to this, there's lots more for you to enjoy) so she then emailed the club. Connection made!
Amazing, the power of such a little white-ish bird. I just love it.

By the way, if you go peek at the gardening website (and Stel&mates, who founded the gardening club love to promote it) do leave a comment (a nice one!) as they'd love to hear from others. As you will see we had a 'big wig' down to view it recently as it's a one off for London Underground to have this sort of thing on this scale.

I'm waffling, my pride in the club is showing. Enjoy.
