SNH and RSPB look at possibility of a new Sea Eagle introduction project on the East coast of Scotland.26/03/2007 00:00:00 Following the success of the re-introduction of White-tailed sea eagles to the North-west of Scotland, the RSPB and SNH have begun discussions to explore the possibility of further re-introductions on the East coast. Conservation and tourism have received considerable boosts from the Sea Eagles on Mull and the Ospreys at the Boat of Garten, to the tune of £5 million according to the RSPB.Andy Douse, Senior Ornithologist of Scottish Natural Heritage said 'SNH and RSPB have been talking broadly about the possibility of another white tailed eagle re-introduction, on the east of the country. Although, in common with RSPB, we are supportive of further releases of this important part of our natural heritage these projects to take time to achieve, There is a lot of work and thought to be put into this yet before any individual locations, timescales and specific details are agreed upon. There is no doubt that the white tailed, or sea, eagle once lived throughout Scotland and following the success of the west coast re-introduction project we must look seriously at the possibility of an east coast project as a means of extending the species range.'
