The Book of Shells
Lifesize guide to identifying and classifying six hundreds shells
By M.G. Harasewych & Fabio Moretzsohn - Published by A & C Black.
We've all picked up a shell or two on the beach, but outside the very most common ones, we have no idea what we are handling. The glorious 652 page book will be able to answer that question for you, no matter where in the world you are. Co-authored by one of the world's pre-eminent shell scholars, The Book of Shells illustrates 600 of the world's commonest and most recognisable shells. Each shell has a photo or two, including an 'actual size', a world distribution map and a detailed description.
Many shells are quite beautiful (please don't take any home, or even buy any, as there will soon be none left), and have equally beautiful names. The Flamingo Tongue, Waved Goblet, Miniature Triton Trumpet, Cuming's Afer, Spiral Tudicla, Lyre-Formed Lyria, Distorted Triumphs, and many more. In fact i haven't found a dull name amongst them.
Rating: Great book, one to buy if you have the slightest interest.
