A new series of beautifully illustrated mini field guides, packed with information for nature enthusiasts, published by New Holland in association with The Wildlife Trusts, is out now.
Each of these new guides is designed to fit in a pocket and comes in a plastic wallet for protection. Although the guides are pocket sized, each has large pictures and a pull out sheet to aid quick ID. Ideal for slipping into your pocket when walking the dog.
- Insects. Covers 180 of the UK's most common insects including dragon flies, damselflies, bees, wasps, beetles, flies, ladybirds and crickets (No butterflies or moths.), plus a brief description and a couple of lines on habitat, food and habits.
- Trees. Covers 150 species of tree found in the UK.A nice touch is the 'Associated species'. EG On Field maple, look out for field mouse and bank vole, and if you want to see some Brimstone butterflies, look for an Alder buckthorn.
- Garden Wildlife. 220 species including almost everything you are likely to see in your garden; birds, mammals, insects and other creepy crawlies, butterflies, reptiles and amphibians.
