There are lots of books about how to take better photos, but in this book Coster focuses on some of the more arty techniques rather than just the purely technical side of things. Misty mornings, backlit cacti, flocks at dawn, waterfalls, unusual perspectives and some of those tricky situations involving too much snow or beach are all covered. Anyone can take some of these shots, but to take them all, and well, takes some sound preparation and a good understanding of your environment.
Which camera and lens?
Without going into specific models, Coster tells you what to look for in a camera and lens to achieve the shots you will want. Cameras is mostly a matter of Canon Vs Nikon; With lenses Coster covers the pros and cons of fixed lenses, telephotos, super zooms, ultra wide angle, tilt and shift, and teleconverters; And other accessories like tripods, filters, flashguns and extension tubes.
I would recommend this book for anyone who has already done some wildlife photography, and is looking to step up a level by learning a few new and specialist techniques. You should learn how to take good photos in tricky conditions, and how to make the most of those situations where you feel there is an image to be had, but you can't quite see how to get it.
