Discover UK Diving
Written by Will Appleyard, published by Red Flannel.A guide to where to dive in West Sussex, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset & Hampshire.
For me, diving is a warm, clear water activity where only a short, thin wetsuit is the most you need. But for many people, Britain provides some great opportunities for diving. According to Will Appleyard, there are many great, but unappreciated, dive sites around the UK's shores, and in this book Will covers some of his favourite ones.
Seals, corals, sponges, eels, wrecks, starfish, pipefish, blennies, urchins, anemones, jellyfish, porpoises, Basking sharks, thorn backed rays and more; it is all out there. Mulberry harbours, landing craft, trawlers, fossil beds, rocky reefs and even an old submarine provide some of the locations that Will recommends.
The book also gives details of the depth and length of each dive, and local dive companies and boats that Will recommends. And I might just give it a go someday soon, even if it is only a snorkel, I do fancy seeing what Lundy has to offer, especially the seals.
