Birds of Ghana
Birds of Ghana - A Helm Field GuideWritten by Nik Borow & Ron Demey. Published by A & C Black
Also covers the birds of Togo.
The one thing that always puzzled me about Ghana is that so few people visit. For the average traveller I would rate Ghana as one of the best places to visit in the world; for a birder it is an absolute must. Ignoring the fact that culturally and historically, Ghana is one of the most interesting and diverse in Africa, the wildlife here is wonderful. Best known for its birds, Ghana still has reasonably healthy populations of Elephants and some other game, as many species of monkey as anywhere, some striking bat colonies and huge diversity of butterflies.
This guide covers 758 species, including residents, migrants and vagrants. Each species has a map, an illustration, a description of male, females and juveniles, habitat and call.
