Giraffe

This not a photographic book, but more an exploration of the giraffe in history, culture and art. The giraffe has appeared on cave paintings and pottery going back as far as 8000 BC to some engravings in Niger, but my personal favourite is the picture of the giraffe presented to the emperor of China in 1414.
The giraffe is so distinct that it has been well represented in art during that time, and until the last few hundred years there were huge herds of them roaming across most of Africa.
Giraffe does cover the natural history and evolution of the beast as well, and takes a refreshing look that all you giraffe overs should take a look at.
