A field guide for surveys and monitoring - Second edition
By John Hardey, Humphrey Crick, Chris Wernham, Helen Riley, Brian Etheridge & Des Thompson

Covering all birds of prey which occur regularly in Britain & Ireland, this is a very specialist book (and CD covering all the various raptor calls) providing in depth descriptions of field techniques for breeding season surveys. The book includes descriptions of every aspect of the different species behaviour, and hints and tips about many tell tale field signs that the casual watcher may well miss.

Each species is covered in depth with somewhere between 6-12 dedicated pages, and there are also photo ID sections that enable the reader to identify chicks at various stages of growth, as well as feathers.

Written by a team from the Scottish Raptor Monitoring Group, the book draws on the experience and knowledge of more than 300 raptor specialists. The book is not designed as a field guide for the casual birdwatcher, but as an aide for anyone involved in professional or volunteer work with raptors.
