Wildlife Walks
Foreword by Chris Packham - Published by the Wildlife Trusts in association with AC Black.
"Great Days out at over 500 of the UK's top nature reserves."
This book has good and bad. There are indeed hundreds of nature reserves listed, though not all give you much detail at all. Many of the larger and more important reserves give details of where you are going, what you might see, how to get there, how long it might take, what facilities there are and whether there is wheelchair access or not. However there are also many that provide a map reference and a 20 word guide. There is also the slight issue that all the reserves listed are managed by the various Wildlife Trusts, thus ignoring the RSPB, WWT, Royal Parks, many National Nature Reserves, Local Nature Reserves et al. Thus if you happened to be wandering around Suffolk, looking for some wildlife (and you had no access to the interweb,), this book might advise you to hurry to Captain's Wood, where you may see some bluebells in spring or a few bats, yet there is no mention of the mighty Minsmere just 10 miles away.
